Abstract
Fairy tales are the unrealistic tales full of fairies, magic, orges, love, hatred and
unnatural power. The roots of fairy tales can be found from the 15 th and 16 th century in
the European countries. Fairy tales as the name suggests these are the tales full of
fairies, magic, imagination and a happy ending. Fairy tales are stories made of pure
imagination which has no connection with reality. We can easily understand how
women are depicted in Fairy Tales through their depictions whether it be the
protagonist or the antagonist.
Description
According to Merriam Webster dictionary fairy tales are stories for children involving
super-humans, magic, fairies, wizards and ogres. The trademark of these tales are they
begin with ‘once upon a time’ and end with ‘happily ever after’. Most of the fairy tales
told in different parts of the world originated from old European folk tales. Fairy tales
are prevalent in almost every culture on the planet.
